Digital twins and AR are reshaping software by creating virtual models that mirror real environments. For the AR Medical Supplies Web App, Mynavi TechTus Vietnam built a microservices system with 3D equipment models and ARCore to help sales reps visualize and recommend devices in customers’ spaces. Delivered on September 30, 2024, this solution streamlined sales, contracts, and document management, laying a scalable digital-twin foundation.
Project Overview
Project Name: AR Medical Supplies Web Application
Scope & Objectives:
- Build a web-based system to support welfare‐equipment rental services, including sales, contract signing, document management, and customer information.
- Enable sales representatives (salers) to recommend appropriate medical/welfare equipment based on each customer’s physical condition and living‐space constraints.
- Deliver the system in a 3-month development window (July 1, 2024 – September 30, 2024), encompassing feature implementation, test‐case creation and execution, staging releases per milestone, and final production release on 2024/09/30.
- Total effort: 6.5 person‐months.
High-Level Features:
- Web Portal (AMS Web App):
- Saler site: Product catalog browsing, quotation creation, AR‐enabled 3D‐model visualization, customer data management, contract generation and signing, document download/print.
- Admin site: Product management, member/authority management, document library, customer and destination management, system settings, notifications.
- Mobile AR App (AMS Mobile App):
- Camera setup and permission handling (ARCore integration).
- 3D object listing and on‐screen equipment rendering within the user’s real‐world environment.
- Distance measurement and snapshot capture for reference.
The Technical Challenges
One of the major technical challenges in this project was the customer’s request for a distance measurement feature to help determine the spatial relationship between the 3D product models and the user’s actual room environment. Initial research revealed that achieving over 90% accuracy in manual distance estimation would be difficult, as results could vary significantly depending on the user’s position and device angle. Moreover, building such a feature from scratch would require substantial development effort and cost.

Our Solutions
To address this, the Mynavi TechTus Vietnam team chose to leverage Google’s ARCore, which offers strong environmental understanding capabilities. By using ARCore’s built-in depth sensing and surface detection, the app was able to automatically detect the surrounding space and render 3D objects at an appropriate scale—without the need for manual distance input. This approach not only saved development time and cost, but also improved the consistency and user-friendliness of the experience.
To support client adoption and confidence, the team also prepared explanatory materials detailing how the depth-sensing mechanism works. As a result, the app successfully met the business need without requiring additional features or budget.
Tech Stack
Backend: PHP (Laravel)
Frontend: VueJS (Web), Kotlin (App)
Results and Impact
-
The development of the web and mobile application for managing medical equipment rental and sales processes has already shown positive early results. The system supports product catalog browsing, quotation generation, document handling, and includes a standout feature: AR-based 3D product visualization in real-world environments, giving users a more intuitive and immersive experience.
As of now, the application has been officially released and is undergoing pilot use internally by the client’s admin team. The development team continues to provide maintenance and support, with plans to roll the system out to the entire sales force once mobile devices are fully distributed. Looking ahead, the client also intends to offer the platform to other companies in the industry. Customer feedback has been encouraging: in the most recent Customer Satisfaction Survey conducted in April 2025, the project received a rating of 8 out of 10, reflecting solid confidence in both functionality and delivery quality.
